Sony is more willing to take a risk on IP than Nintendo and Microsoft combined.

Actually I counted for each this gen, and while my idea of a new IP might slightly differ than the next man, I counted 20 for Nintendo and 23 for Sony. It's fairly equal.

I would say Nintendo took more risk with its new ips. How many expected Wiifit to fail?

In the general media, no one. Over here, half the freaking site. Actually it's who thought Wii Sports would fail to generate great sales of the Wii. That was everybody. I remember the lambasting Nintendo was getting for packaging Wii Sports instead of Zelda, since Zelda would sell more consoles.
