A little too overhyped and I think appealing mostly to teens.

Lacking and subpar story telling, annoyingly macho stupid space marines as main characters, feels a bit too bulky and inflexible movement/exploration options, 360 version missing most impressive boss battle (felt strange already before the PC version), annoying unappealing vehicle section, unrealistic crouched running, significant texture pop-ins, dissapointing end game boss battle, short game, need XBox Live gold to play online (and it had issues at the time even with limited 4x4 max battles when I tried).

Well polished graphics and nice shooting mechanics.

Seriously MikeB...seriously?! Your faulting the game for "appealing to teens"

I am not a teen, I read some reviews and I thought it would be more appealing to me.

comparing it to the PC version (which has nothing to do with this thread, we're talking about the specific console game ONLY, and ranking it as such)

I criticized this way before the PC version existed and Epic revealed you would be able to play the boss battle for that version. It felt like the boss battle was cut out.

and giving a negative point for, "need XBox Live gold to play online"!...wow...everyone knows you don't like Xbox already, but damn does it have to be that obvious, this was desperate.

The game is short, thus its online experience is more important than for other games. What's worse the online experience was seriously flawed when I tried it. I expected better for something you have to pay for, which is free everywhere else.

but damn does it have to be that obvious, this was desperate.

I have spoken positively with regard to many XBox 360 games in the past, for instance with regard to BioShock when it was released or for example I have often hailed Kameo as a stunning 360 launch title. Gears is IMO overhyped, I said this back in 2006 when I bought this game and I say so again today. Whine to someone else please.
