You do realize he meant that you have to go multiplatform on all 3 systems to make Triple A games right... and that had nothing to do with the PC but how you need to go multiplatform to mitigate costs... right?

Yes, I did.  That was why I posted this.

"Exactly.  Except for PC it causes consternation because the game design expectations are different between platforms, whereas 360/PS3 games are the same."

You really think the differences cost more then what it costs to change up programming for the PS3 version?

I'd doubt it.  Espiecally considering that MW2 is as far as I know, using the same engine as MW1.

If anything it probably cost them money to make it like the console versions... since they would have to rewrite a lot of specific PC code.

My previous statements were not relegated to only MW2.  They were mostly pointed towards vlad's complaining that pc games are becoming consolified.  And my previous posts point out why that is, quite clearly.

And specifically related to IW.net, it was probably designed for future titles as well, so the investment is there for future PC/console developments.

Ah, but you miss the point.

360 to PS3 development costs 10 to 15% of the total game.

Do you think PC Specific features even cost 3% the price of the total game considering how seamlessly it ports to 360?

They verywell may lose more money in sales then they do costs.

They won't go bankrupt... but it will hurt there bottom line.

And you miss my point.  Consoles have a controller.  PC has mouse and keyboard.  PC gamers complain about the consolification of games due to them not utilizing the full aspects of the mouse/keyboard combo.  This is why.  Regardless of what you think, in order to make a game successful on the console, different game design paradigms must be used.  Especially with FPS games.

Doesn't that completly defeat your own argument.

You just stated that to be successful... Consoles and PCs need different design paradigms.

Yet you are applauding them bringing them together in this means.

Even though the obvious outcome is that it will make said PC games unsucessful... and without a 3 legged table of the multiplat... the Triple A games discussed in that article can't exist.

Additionally, costs such as PC mouse and keyboard, the dominate costs here, are NEVER going to be gotten rid of.  So getting rid of a few token things that are going to cost you money is going to hurt in the end.
