Now I've read the whole thing and I have two things to say:
- I pity the guy's kid...Eli 6.3? Seriously? :)
- I agree with him about review scores but I'm not sure he went into enough depth. There was an interesting bit on Penny Arcade this week where Gabe was saying how he tried to finish Assassin's Creed at top speed to see if it had an ending, and he started to see the game through a reviewer's eyes: it's not pretty. It's basically your job to speed-run dozens of games to completion every month. It's already counter-intuitive to how an average gamer like Gabe plays, and it's that much more counter-intuitive to how most people are playing something like Wii Sports or Mario Party.
Edit: I blew through Rayman Raving Rabbids in a couple of hours, but it's one of the best purchases I made, because it gets hauled out literally every single time I play Wii with my friends. That's how it sold a million copies.
