Sony isn't refusing to fix their PS3's. If they want it fixed, outside of warranty, then they need to pay the fee. I'm sure that there is no way these two men can prove without a doubt that the updates killed their systems.
They were told it was coincidental and unless they can prove otherwise then they are shit out of luck.
