I don't like the PS3 because I point out that the Blu-Ray drives aren't exactly all that reliable either? There is a petition floating around asking Sony to extend the warranty for the blu-ray drive coverage. http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?PS3BRDW3 Lots of people on the internet have reported that their blu-ray drive has crapped out on them. It's definitely the biggest problem with the PS3. Just like how the dvd drive errors were the biggest controversy with the PS2. YLOD (which Seraphic unluckily got) is less common. After the standard warranty period (a year I think), you gotta pay $150+ to get the drive fixed. At least with the 360, you could RRoD the thing in case the DVD drive screws up (and you are much less likely to screw it up if you install games fully to the hard drive) and get coverage for three years (not exactly honest to do this but hey, the consumer is entitled to exploit this after MS made the mistake of launching a then-faulty console. Consider it karma for rushing a console to beat out your competition instead of taking the time to quality test the thing properly first) I'm not telling him to buy another Xbox (unless his 3 year warranty was up, what would be the point of that?). He could send his in and get it replaced for up to 3 years. Better to do that and keep all of his 360 games than replace his 360 (effectively putting all that money invested in the console, games and accessories down the drain. Most video games depreciate a lot in value over the years so you're not gonna get too much money back) and his games with a PS3, which doesn't exactly have the most reliable optical drive either. If he wants to get a slim as a second console, that's another story. But he was implying that if he replaced his 360 with a PS3, he wouldn't have to deal with these optical drive problems, which is untrue.
