Hi. I'm new and I've been browsing the forums for a while. This is my first post. Now that intros are out of the way...
I think the wii could be a blessing or curse for the "hard core" gamers. It could be a life support for HD gaming, while the development methods are building. HD is a HUGE leap in consumer techology (IMO one of my favorites) as far as engineering economics go. Developers may need to release "cute" games for the wii that they can sell millions for $50 a piece that can be developed at a micro budget.
Or it could be a curse as the lead investors of development studios might be more interested in $$$$$ that can be extracted from development for the Wii, while they see the loss of spending a few million to develop games with best textures, lighting, FPS, etc.
Last Generation I had a Gamecube and a PS2 because I didn't find to many Xbox games that I was interested in. This generation, I have a PS3 and am definitely getting a X360 before Blue Dragon and Lost Oddyssey come out.
As far as the Wii, I've played it at my friend's house and I'm really not getting as interested in it as I should be. I just don't care about the cute party games as much as most people do. When playing Wii, I'm always dying to go back to my PS3...
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
