Free and better alternatives to Windows applications

I use VLC, OpenOffice Writer(it works the way I want it to, not like Word...some problems with using Word format though), Firefox, GIMP, for simple spreadsheets I use Spread32.

And of course PHP, mySQL, Apache and Notepad++.
