I'm reading the first book now. It can be broken down as follows:

100 pages about Edward's face
100 pages about Edward's physique
50 pages about Edward's eyes
40 pages about Edward's skin
10 pages about Edward's smile

And another 100 pages about how Bella can't live without him. Keep in mind she's only known him for a couple weeks. In that time he's made such romantic gestures as stalking her, breaking into her house to watch her sleep and telling her he's a fucking vampire who wants to tear her throat out and drink her blood. Bitch is crazy.

That leaves approximately 100 pages of actual things happening. These things include riding in cars, going to school and playing vampire baseball.

And the meat of the book, their relationship, is pretty annoying and rather stereotypical.

Bella moves to Forks, Washington and starts school. All the guys love her and are very nice to her. She wants nothing to do with them.

Bella - "Who's that guy over there?"

Girl - "That's Edward Cullen. He's mysterious and beautiful."

Edward is a jerk to Bella.

Bella - "He hates me because I'm so lame and ugly!"

Edward is nice to Bella.

Bella - "I love him!"

Edward is a jerk to Bella.

Bella - "I love him even more!"

Do women not understand they're being portrayed as weak and submissive? I think there's a point to be made here considering they make up a vast majority of the Twilight fan base and swoon over this kind of stuff.

But still I read on....
