Fable is not really a fair comparison. Sure the level of hype around AC was very high but the devs kept much about the game under wraps. I dont remember seeing anything that was promised in the game cut.
Peter Moleneaux on the other hand anouced several features for Fable that were either cut or never implemented. Most of the dissapointment I felt from that title stemed from that fact and made what was in all actuality a great game a dissapointing one. I love most of what the guy has done game wise(especially the Dungen Keeper stuff) but he has a bad habit of letting his mouth overload his ass.
I guess I'm still a bit bitter about that game its the only reason I bought an Xbox as it was not slated to come out on PC originally. Fourtunatly there were a lot of other better titles that I really enjoyed playing on it. I guess I actually owe something to Fable though it brought me back to console gaming which I had given up on after my PS1 N64 days.
