Honestly, I personally don't believe anyone who say's that they aren't related to someone famous (living or dead) because it is more appropriate to claim that you aren't aware of the famous people you're related to. With the number of siblings most of or great-grandparents and grandparents had, most people alive today have hundreds or thousands of cousins when you include third and fourth cousins; but few of us know our first cousins all that well, and almost no one keeps track of third cousins (or beyond) and most of what you hear about them is from over-hearing a conversation between elderly relatives about people you don't know.
