@Samus Aran

Most of us have gone to college, or as you call it university. Don't believe all your professors, man. Some of them love to promote their views and political beliefs in their classroom. Apparently you have just parroted his beliefs as you see him as an authority figure with credibility. He obviously has a problem with the U.S. and its policies. Don't be a blind sheep and follow whatever he says.

Perhaps you should stop being a blind sheep of your government. I don't believe all my professors, only when they back things up and it's not like he's the only one that shares that opinion. Pretty much everyone does here. Yes, the world has a problem with the U.S. Didn't you know?

Any person/professor etc. can back up opinions, theories, and ideologies with half-truths and spin of historical records.  Hell, it sounds like  I could defend the Holocaust with some simple word play, and probably get you to believe it if I was your professor.  You do know our(the U.S.) government doesn't control people and the media right?  Why do you think there is always an outcry against the government?  That's why we have elections, if we don't like the direction of the government we change it during the next election.

Just to let you know, these "policies and dictators" we set up during the cold war, was to keep Russia and communism in check and vise versa with the USSR.  The U.S. and USSR would fund whatever war or government that was opposed to the other during this time to fight each other indirectly.  If we were all pacifists over here, half if not more of the world would be communist and Russia would of had a much greater influence than us at this time.  Russia probably would have invaded A LOT of countries and set up their empire, after the wreckage of WWII, when the U.S. and USSR emerged as world powers.  Yeah it would have been great if we could of held hands and sung songs of peace, but that is not the way the world works.

I'm done with you and this thread, it's pointless to refute someone's ill-founded thought process, when they are unable to adapt, but only follow.

I think you'll find what you're prescribing to Samus could easily be said of you. I could easily make comments on what you've just written and claim it's US State Department propaganda. In fact if anything there's more evidence to show the US was hell bent on empire creating (of the neo sort) after WW2. The US wasn't interested in keeping communism in check. It was interested in keeping the political independance of a nation in check and the free thinking masses. The USSR was a major stumbling block as it had a very powerful military that was independant of the US and could even challenge it somewhat but it also provided the US with a major enemy it could blame the worlds ills on and go on it's adventures to 'contain' communism. Of course that pretext has now gone (we have a new one) NATO remains and the globe trotting adventurism continues as does critical support for non democratic regimes. And the huge military industrial complex is getting more money now than at any other time in it's history even when inflation is taken into account.
