| bugrimmar said: ^ my reasons for giving it a 9.2 is basically that it doesn't deserve a 10 because there are things missing. so I calculated how much was missing based on that 10 band (it's just a calculation in my head), and decided that the story flaws, stealth problems, AI issues, game logic nitpicks, etc. was worth .8 negative. isn't that a good thing already? all of that is just .8? |
Well, it would've been rather weird to detract a lot for the alleged flaws it has. Stealth is the way it is so it remains enjoyable, story flaws are negligable, game logic is weird (unless you think it's okay for people to shoot down HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE amounts of aliens, just because "he is a marine" is logical or people getting superpowers after being a blastzone :s Don't push the boundaries of fictions into reality).
I gave it a 9.2 based on its multiplayer (since that isn't the best of the best). If that was insanely good as well, the game would've crept into 9.5 9.6 territory for me, but I wouldn't have docked points because of "he only gets shot once, while shooting others millions of times" (especially since there are titles out there that are WAY worse than that and you'd have to deduct points for every review you'll ever make with this point. I'm looking forward to seeing your review of NSMB Wii, as it is insane for people to jump into pipes without knowing what is going to happen ;))
