The reason the image of the joker has been used for both Obama and Bush have very little to do with the (portrayed) politics of the Joker, and is primarily dealing with the joker as being a (somewhat) intimidating character who is "insane" ...
Now, back to the original topic ... I hate to be blunt but the more disturbing thing about these kinds of stories is it seems the people who are most "Offended" about how far respect for the office of the president have fallen are the same people who were making similar statements about George W. Bush a couple of years ago. |
How many people were calling for Bush to be assasinated? If so, I would also expect them to be prosecuted. If somebody was calling for the murder of a neo-nazi I would still expect them to be prosecuted. (not a comparison of Bush to a neo-nazi by the way, simply saying that it isn't acceptable to call for the murder of anyone).
I called George Bush a moron, it's okay if you call Obama a moron. I never called for George Bush to be killed, it's not okay if somebody calls for Obama to be killed.
Inciting violence is (at least in NZ) against the law for good reason.
