America didn't free Iraq. It rid themselves (by that I mean the American elite) of a disobediant dictator who hadn't been towing the line for over a decade by then and they couldn't get rid of him by other means. And do you know when Saddam committed his worst atrocities? When he was an ally against Iran. Heck Reagan even used the UN veto to help Saddam when he was gassing the Kurds. Don't for one minute think the US went in to free Iraq. That's a load of bull. It was WMDs, then democracy, now it's because if they leave it will descend into chaos....Iraq is another client state now, like the other Gulf nations. Iran is next unless American power is in decline. I mean have you seen the Embassy in Iraq? It's like a city within a city, it's huge. And those military bases they are building sure aren't temporary....they don't have any intention of leaving anytime soon. Iraq was invaded because of oil pure and simple. Controlling that region gives the US critical leverage over its' industrial competitors though of course it hasn't always worked out the way they planned.

And yeah, I do know the history of Iraq... and the reason Saddam was in power. I mean afterall I did mention the old US helped genocide in Iraq right?
Nor did I say the US went in to free Iraq... nobody actually believes that.
However the US DID free Iraq. It wasn't their main intention but it DID happen. As for the US not leaving soon... have you not seen the actual agreements for when we will leave?
To say it was Oil based is ignorant. We went in because Bush is a sychophantic sees things only his way type, and was willing to go with more shakey intellegence over rock solid intellegence because it fit his world view better.
