Well definitely disagree with Halo 3 but Tomb Raider, Killzone 2, and Farcry 2 definitely deserve to be up there.
But none of those come anywhere near my most overhyped/disappointing games of this generation.... Gears of War. Gears of War is really an odd case for me. For some game that can be completely so average is so universally accepted as an amazing game. The game was nothing but a pretty package with nothing in it. Beautiful graphics tied with a good adaptation of RE4 styled gameplay but awful story, awful story progression, bad characterization and dialogue, and multiplayer that left a ot to be desired. Epic gave you a beautiful looking game with a great gameplay setup but nothing to use it for. Felt like a tech demo for something to come... which eventually it did with Gears 2 but Gears 1 should never be considered anything amazing. This is one of the few times ever I disagree with general consensus and reviewers to a point where I can't even see how someone would think it is an amazing game.
Killzone 2 for obvious reasons deserves to be up there. Farcry 2 definitely needs to be up there. Excite Truck is another game that should be on that list. I'd throw the Conduit in there as well.
