True, but Japan was weakened a lot by the heavy blow brought upon them by the Americans. That put them in a lot of danger because they were unable to defend properly against communism. It's pretty obvious America helped though, the threat of Japan becoming a communist country was too big for them during the cold war.
And it's pretty easy to cast Americans as the bad guys during the cold war though, they did some pretty nasty stuff in Vietnam, South Korea, North Korea and Cuba(economical embargo, countless assassination attempts on Fidel Castro, there's even a museum about it lol).
Ps: Has America ever apologized for throwing 2 atom bombs on Japan?
