For budget gaming, it does mean you have instant access to a ton of old and used games for cheap, not that a brand new $99 PS2 doesn't do the same unless you just don't have the AV inputs for one more console on your main HDTV with a half dozen consoles already hooked up to it.

And you're increasingly becomming more wrong.  Despite the fact that I have aa PS2 less than 5 feet away the lack of BC in the PS3 is a severe detractor to me.  Plus, I wouldn't even give up my old PS2 in all liklihood since it is modified and allows my to play my collection of foreign games.

And none of your collection of foreign games will run on a BC PS3 due to region coding, making that function quite useless for the percentage of a percentage PS2 gamers you represent.
