tuoyo said: Okay I have to admit I have not played a racing sim since F1 on N64 about 12 years ago and I have not in real life tried to take a turn at high speed but there is something in this game that puzzles me. Why on earth is it impossible to turn when pressing the brakes? Is this normal in racing games of today? Is this meant to be realistic? As I said I have not taken a turn at top speed in real life but in this game I have the same problem when at very very low speeds and in real life when I am turning I definitely have the breaks pressed at the same time. So why can't you brake and turn in this game?
Great game I must say though.
Ok. Wow. Well here goes. slow speeds in racing seems slow because you have been hitting speeds of over 100mph. So in all likelyness you weren't taking the corners as slow as you thought. But braking in a croner is the WORST thing you can do when racing. All you will do is lock up the front wheels and the car will continue in a straight line. The wheels need to be turning for the front wheels to pull the car round a corner.
Try easing the brake gently if you need it during a corner. Dont fully depress it in a corner. Also get a feel what the car is doing ( every car is different ). If the car turns in easily and the back end sometimes comes out you have oversteer. If you turn in and the car isnt responding you could have understeer. Try softening you front suspension if you have understeer. This will compensate the weight a bit more as it will give the front a little more roll than the back.
Yes what you describe is very accurate in real life. If you broke during a corner whilst you were racing in real life expect to see a wall on your bumper.
This may help.
Get what you are saying but it doesn't matter what speed I am on it just doesn't turn at all. At first I did not realise that I was trying to take the bends at like 90mph. But I have tried slowing down to like 30mph and turning while breaking and I can't even move a single inch in either direction whilst pressing the break button. That does not seem realistic to me because everytime in real life I have taken a turn at 30mph I have been pressing on the break and it hasn't stopped the steering wheel responding to my turning. Maybe I am pressing the break button fully when I think the 360 shoulder button may be analogue or something so you can press it without the effect being fully pressing the break paddle but rather gently tapping it which is what I do in real life.
ah. Yes do NOT press all the way in or it will lock up. Think of pressing it in like a real brake. It takes alot of practice but you will get it. I have no problem at that speed braking in a corner on this game. Just remeber dont lock up. Try and perfect your braking before the turn in. Ease off on turn in. hit apex and accelerate out ( but gradually ). American cars tend to be the worst for power Oversteer. But then the best for drifting. :)
