At $500 the PS3 was really only for early adopters. At $400 it was a good value proposition, but you needed to think about the math a little bit to understand. Now at $300 the PS3 is so overwhelmingly obvious that it is a better deal many people will be either getting a PS3 as their first current gen system or just switching to PS3 from 360 when it's time to replace it again when it breaks.
