^Sure it will, because the companies will release more expensive and niche consoles and games, and drive more customers away, and eventually prices will overtop revenues to the point where companies go bankrupt.

Without Nintendo neither SOny or MS would have cut prices as fast, or tried to reach out to the wider audience, you'd be left with fewer consoles in the market than now and more niche games, and less sales. Costs would continue to rise over the years and with lower sales and revenues companies would go bankrupt left and right as their losses mounted, and you'd be faced with another Industry crash, and even worse one, since Nintendo wouldn't be around to pick up the pieces.

Err ?

Sony is still the king at reaching to wider audience, not Nintendo.

The Wii still has to sell 85 millions units to steal the crown...( and that's not looking like a slam dunk..)

Actually only 78 million, and its actually almost certain, Wii has been overtracking the PS2 not only overall, but in weekly sales for nearly its entire lifetime, not to mention by this point, PS2 was cheaper than the Wii, DS is also well on its way to being the most sold system ever, console or handheld, and this gen, Sony has been terrible at reaching the wider audience, ever since Kaz said $599 back at E3 2006

I don't think the Wii lifetime will be anywhere as big as the PS2...

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !
