After spending some time consulting some of the PS3 Trophy sites out there, I took a stab at creating difficulty ratings for the games that have been plat'd here. I decided to rate each games difficulty on a scale of 1 to 4 stars (4 stars being the most difficult). I opted to use a rough scale instead of providing a precise rating like 5.76/10 in order to avoid disputes like "I think game x should be rated 5.03/10, not 4.96/10!".
At the moment, this doesn't serve much of a purpose, other than for reference. I'm a bit reluctant to use these difficulty ratings for stats or rankings because the ratings are somewhat subjective. However, if people are interested, I could incorporate these difficulty rating into the league somehow. My two ideas were to provide a new stat for each person to show the average difficulty of the platinums that they've earned. The other idea was to create a second Platinum Trophy leaderboard that would rank people by the amount of 'platinum points' they have. Platinum points would be determined by the difficultly of the game. For example, earning a platinum in a game with difficulty of 4 stars earns you 4 points, earning a platinum with a difficulty rating of 2 stars earns you 2 points. This means that someone who has earned only 1 four star platinum would rank higher than someone who has earned 3 one star platinums.
