Yeah, but he was just to slow to be any good to me IMO, he only gets crazy strong when he goes EX Mode, other then that... eh.... And yes i beat FFVI yesterday. as far as how it was if i were to say it in one words it would be "Charming" 8 out of 10 for FFVI seems just, but now i realize why there is Soooooo much spite for VII from your hardcore VI fan, though i gotta say kefkas final battle area was most likely epic for its time, but both the music and overall vibe for sephiroth/safer sephiroth was just far more epic. VI is a great finaly fantasy i liked it MUCH more then damn VI and most likely I and II aswell, but i still place it below X. i'd put it slightly above XII and on par with VIII. |
Yeah! Hey, pal! I'M ONE of those hardcore Final Fantasy VI fans, and I've got a bone to pick with you!
Final Kefka battle epic for its time?! HELL! IT'S STILL EPIC! Even jaded with modern games, I STILL get chills during the final battle scene of FFVI! That whole climax is just more than anything you could have asked for, and SO cool and imaginative! That "Dancing Mad," I swear, is one of THE BEST PIECES of music Nobuo Uematsu ever wrote! FFVII final battle more epic?! PUSHAW!!!! PUSHAW, I SAY!!!!
Let me tell you something, buddy: what FFVI doesn't equal FFVII in graphics and sound, it MORE THAN MAKES UP FOR with music, imagination, characters, and story! It's WAY better than FFVII! The graphics and audio is the ONLY thing FFVII has over FFVI, because if it didn't have that, it would SUCK SO MUCH compared to FFVI! If FFVI's technical capabilities were on par with the Playstation's, then the final battle WOULD FUCKING DEMOLISH the final battle from FFVII! Imagine if Final Fantasy VI were made for the Playstation, instead?! The SNES does SO MUCH with the MIDI capabilities it has to work with, and I'll never tire of hearing "Dancing Mad" on my iPod! EVEN WITH the primitive SNES sound and graphics, it's still much better than FFVII's final battle, which I felt was a bit lacking in something, and disappointing.
The only thing I thought was cool was Safer Sephiroth, and the ludicrously intimidating "Supernova" attack of his. "One Winged Angel" is a song that's currently stuck in my head, but it's NOTHING on "Dancing Mad." I doubt I'll ever hear a better piece of music in video games again!
That's why I'm joansing for a remake in 3D some day! Because it will give FFVII a run for its money!
GOD! I couldn't imagine a more convoluted, upside-down statement!
I, for one, actually have an imagination, and I only need to imagine a scene of such EPIC is a few things like midi mimicking orchestral instruments, and Kefka's various Davinci-inspired, pixellated transformations showing off his godhood, and set against an awesomely dramatic cloud-streaked, sunlight-ripped sky as you ascend higher into the heavens battling him, and all while the spectacular "Dancing Mad" movements build up into an amazing finish! Was is awesome for its time? SURE AS HELL WAS! Is it less awesome now? Only the graphics and sound quality, but the idea is still there! You could just as easily say that FF7 was awesome for its time, and doesn't look good anymore, couldn't you?!
The final battle of FF7 just felt like a sterile, uninspired imitation of the FF6 final battle, along with the poor little "One Winged Angel" trying its best to recapture the grandoise coolness of "Dancing Mad," and Safer Sephiroth doing his best god-Kefka impression! You think FF7 is more epic because its technical specs are more powerful than the SNES's?! IT TAKES MORE THAN THAT! Look what the SNES did with what it had!
No. NO, my friend! The final battle with Kefka is WAAAAAAAAY more epic than the final battle with Sephiroth, and I'm not even getting into what a better story, and better characters FF6 had over FF7 to make the build-up to it better in the first place.
And here's a Sephiroth to go the Kefka above.
