Fuck this father. Who the fuck shoots their own flesh and blood over a video game?

And to those in here talking about how hard it is for Obama to change the constitution, then where are we to look? If the most powerful man on the planet isn't the one to initiate it, are we supposed to accept that one of the richest and most advanced country's in the world simply has a HUUUGE flaw in their constitution? Come on guys, we know better than this. It is no longer the 1700's.

@Gnizmo - why does it matter whether it was the person or the gun??? Actually, an issue like this is a direct indicator of necessary change to gun laws. Yes, this man is crazy. Yes, this man could have killed his son using a knife. But let's step back from this scenario for a minute. What if this man had decided to go on a rampage. Do you think he'd get to more people with an AK47 or a butcher knife? Crazy people exist everywhere. Murderers and sociopaths have been around as long as human beings have. Seems like a good enough reason not to let people own firearms.

It's actually kind of depressing.

What if he had decided to go have angry sex with a hooker instead? What if counts for nothing. The reality is a man did one of the worst things imaginable. Trying to say it would not have happened in a world without guns removes all personal responsibility, and removes much of the blame from where it belongs. The gun gave him no extra options. This is a tragedy of improper rage management.

So how exactly do you explain the redicolousley high murder rate in the United States? I live in Canada, we don't have things like Columbine happen here. We don't have fathers shooting their children over video games. We don't have kids in kindergarden accidentally taking a gun to school and shooting little girls. Yes, people are killed here too, but the number don't even compare to America. This is a tragedy of improper rage management. Agreed. Having guns in every household does not help rage management. The murder rate in the States speaks for itself really.

And how about we turn this little thing around, could you please tell me why you are against gun control? Self defense is a joke of an excuse.

Multiple factors contribute to high death rate from guns.  As I see it, America has a culture of dependence on foreign substance to manage moods.  The argument is over how it is done.  The default drug is alcohol here, and that leads to a LOT of problems, which was a major push for Prohibition last century.

Doesn't it pretty much wrap up to...people kill people? I mean...in the end that's what it is, regardless of the method of killing. While guns aren't to blame for killing someone - directly (because a gun can't fire itself) it's a MOTIVATOR. You can have an "innocent"/humble person turn into a murderer because a gun was avaliable to them. As for there being a law against this, or a law against that...no set law can fix this...but stricter methods has to be implemented in the systems already enforced.
