| shams said: Well - from initial reports, it seems that the PS3 (40Gig) is off to a "decent" start in Japan. Decent - but not great: "Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported that the first day sales of the new 40GB PS3 is 31,000 units for the Ceramic White model and 5,000 units for the Standard Black model; and around 70,000 to 100,000 Dual Shock 3 were sold on the same day." (first day for the price drops, Dynasty Warriors release + White 40Gig model release) ... Sales in the US however have failed to dramatically improve. Maybe next week, once Uncharted gets released? ... At least, if it does 44k in Japan - it hits 180k for the week (worldwide). That isn't too bad. And the rise in sales in Europe is very heartening (marketing? lead up to Xmas?). The challenge now is building on the sales in Europe/US, without having the sales in Japan slide (which they could after a new hardware release). All in all, its tracking slightly under my "best case scenario" at the moment - and a long way behind what Sony needs to make their fiscal predictions. |
well we had ps3 fans downplaying the 360 outselling it last week because they needed a new bundle and a big release at the same time to do it....well that is exactly what has happened here again with the ps3 likely outselling the Wii. The PS3 has very very little for the rest of the holiday season in japan though, it's unfortunate.
Did you guys know the gamecube outsold the ps2 by about 100k on the week when SSBM was released? Just a little tidbit.
currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X
