I think bundling MW2 is a stupid move, to say the least.

The game will sell millions of copies on it's own and MS is going to have to pay for all those copies out of pocket.

What a load of nonsense... how can it be a stupid move?  So FFXIII similar bundles in Japan are stupid?

If Sony did it you'd love it.... and rightly so.

FF13 is an exclusive in Japan.

I agree with you, though, bundling MW2 is a good move. I just don't see it having a very large effect. It will give a small bump in America, and nothing elsewhere.

They will be eating the cost of every single mw2 that they could have sold on it's own.

It's just advertising. Now, if Sony did the same thing with MW2, then I would say, "sure, you gotta be competitive". But they aren't.

On top of it, they are potentially costing infinity ward sales of the hardened edition.

What you are asking me, is "why is it ok for Sony to bundle ff13".

The answer to that is developer pressure. A lot of 3rd party games have been bundled, and some even had their own ps3. Developers are concerned with the install base on the ps3 and so push bundling because it increases sales of the game. Sony is going to have to eat all the costs of bundling ff13, and rightly so. They screwed up and now they have to pay for it.

Say you walk into a store wanting to buy a ps3, randomly. Here is what they have to offer. a 120GB HD 300$ ps3 with, say, spiderman 3. A 400$ PS3 with 250GB HD and FF13. FF13, already being 80$ is a good value for the console. As a consumer you have a good chance of being sold by the bundled ps3 because of it's increased value. S-E also makes a sale that it might not have made on it's own. Voila.
