I usually get sub 50 ping on L4D dedicated servers. Normally around 30.

Consistantly though?

Right now going on lan between my 3 comps in uT2004 I have 9 ping on the highest one, and that's using a wireless, not ethernet. There is no way to reachtht on the actual internet.

yes, actually there is. When I used XBC there were times I was getting around 38 ping consistantly. Even still, this is irrelevant to the initial response I made, because having good PING is only a bonus of LANing, not the purpose of doing it.

It IS the purpose of it. Having internet in a house is a given so unless you get the switch out in the middle of a cave using your laptops, chances are there is an internet ocnnection around. The purpose of a LAN is to reduce the pings as much as possible, there is a reason why ALL tournaments are done using LAN not the shitty internet. Also those 39 ping times are 30 ms more than my wireless LAN.

No, that is not the purpose of it. Seriously, LANing in the way I was using it (form a gamers perspective) is connecting several computors together in order to play video games. I mean seriously, when you LAN with a bunch of friends at your house, do you all spend the entire time pinging eachother and drooling over your ping rates, or do you play games? Having good ping is a SIDE EFFECT of LANing, playing games is the PURPOSE of LANning, the two are very differant. You are just embarrasing yourself now, please, for your sake, stop.
