If it were mandatory to pay for online play, I'd do my online gaming on PC only. Out of principle.

Agreed. I bought the system. I bought the games to play online. I refuse to pay a fee to do what I already paid for.

You didn't buy the service that allows you to play online. Just the game and the option to use the service. Please don't tell me you think paying for a service like XBL or PSN is like paying for your internet connection twice. Becuase I just got done pointing out that it isn't (for the one millionth time)

Seriously dude, there are some of us who believe that it's wrong for us to go buy a game and have to pay to use something that's on the disc we bought. If the online is on the disc that I BOUGHT WITH MY OWN MONEY, AND I NOW OWN, then I will not pay to use something that I already own. For games like online MMORPGs that I don't have to go out and buy, I wouldn't have as much problem of paying a subscription since I don't own the game; I never went out and bought it.

You did not buy the service to play online with the game. with PSN you bought the right to use the service with the console, same with the Wii. The 360 (unfortunately) did not come with the right to use the online gaming service/ Xbox connection service. So you have to buy the right on a monthly/yearly basis. Look, I get that you don't want to pay to play online, and I don't fault you for that, but at least use an argument that makes sense.

It seems the PSN disagrees, since I can play online for free. What about PC? Yep, I can there too. I don't understand why you don't think it makes sense. It makes perfect sense to me and every other person in this thread who's been arguing with you about it.

Just accept that some of us won't pay to play online.

erm, I never said that was a bad thing, it's just that some of the arguments used to justify that, are horribly flawed. Some people on here should be thanking me for pointing out how horrible their argument is. I support everybody's right to choose whether or not to play on line, but I do not support flawed logic.

No, you need to understand that you aren't always right. This is a highly subjective issue, and it just so happens that there are a lot of people who disagree with you in this thread. If you want people who agree with you, go on XBL. For whatever reason, you don't understand that our arguement is not flawed, otherwise PSN WOULD charge; online would never be free. I really don't understand what the problem is here. Just let it go and accept that not everyone agrees with you.
