I can name at least 3.
Mario/Mario 64 - Created platformers and influenced all gaming henceforth. (At least he got this one right)
Dragon Quest - Took the RPG genre from the niche PC market and make it popular on consoles, as well as setting an entire nation on fire to them. Set the stage for such titles as Phantasy Star, Final Fantasy, Shin Megami Tensei, Mother, Pokemon, etc.
Legend of Zelda - Created the Action/Adventure genre as we know it. 'nough said.
Seriously, there's a ton of games (or series) which have influenced games better than what he has said.
