Actually if they decide to sell their organs they won't be as poor, unless they waste the few grand you'd get from donating a kidney or liver or something.
Choosing to shorten ones lifespan isn't the same as outright choosing to die for a paycheck.
Hell people choose to shorten their lifespans every day for much less payoff then 20+ grand.
Hell, most people pay other people to shorten their lifespans.
