As a citizen, if someone told me they had committed murder, it' a crime for me not to report it. I would think it would be a crime for any religious leader to do the same, under the same laws. If there is no legal document you sign from the government saying "I am now a certified Priest", then how can they have more legal authority then me? |
Mafoo, I think there is a legal document saying that you're a priest. Though I'm not sure.
But there are other forms of privilege too, like attorney client privilege, doctor-patient privilege, spousal privilege and a couple others.
