Ofcourse DD is the future but Bluray will be big it will be bigger the next few years then DD. There are many reasons first of all downloading movies is nothing new the people do it for 10 years or longer.

People which download movies can the download easily for free.

the Bluray offers you something which simply cant be offered now from an other media. Premium Quality.

I would NEVER buy a Movie via some Platform atleast not now there are many factors which are negativ. The people that downloaded Movies via torrent have no reason to pay for it. The other people definetly still prefer DVD not everywhere on the planet is the Connection good enough and stable enough the second thing is that only a small minority of people have Consoles or PCs on the TV. I am speaking of 500 Mio Europeans 130 Mio Japanese and 300 Mio Americans. Compared to this numbers the Number of Consoles is a joke.

A lot of people still dont use their PCs daily or know much about it. A Dvd can be bought for 5 Euro in a Supermarket thats for a lot of people way more convinient as downloading from a platform. Such Downloading Platforms are not really Common a lot of people dont even know one.

Second thing is the people see it like this INTERNET=MEDIA FOR FREE

a Dvd is simple you buy it for cheap and put it in a DVD Player finish.

For everything else you have to Inform you you have to hook up a device on your TV you have to register you. Even if this is only neccessary once its too much stress the people dont see the Advantage not everyone is soo TV addictet that he would really care about it. Its just not that important.

Its just a part of Videophiles which would be interested in the Advantages of DD. And would pay for it even if they could get the same for free.

But those people care about the Quality which cant be delievered via DD. Bluray is just so much better of course the people dont care now this much because Bluray is still expenisve and stuff. But that dont mean they wouldnt care at all if Bluray will just cost 5-10 Euros a Movie the people want the same Quality on VOD Services.

The other thing a physical media is a value itself. It can be reselled easily it looks nice in the shelf. And it makes a feeling that you actually have something.

And the Internet Connections are not as good in the rural areas.

If the media will merge and the Internet will be so stable and quick then ofcourse storage of media will completly disappear everyone will have everything at no time everywhere. And probably the people will just pay maybe some kind of Media Tax.

DD will dominate before that time. But the next 5 years is the time of Bluray and to a lesser extent of DD. I would guess 55% Bluray 30% DD 15% DVD and others.
