The problem with immigration is that many unskilled immigrants come to our country through unfortunate circumstances such as poverty and war. These people cannot contribute to the country very easily due to their situation. This is unfortunate, but it takes up a large portion of immigrants. A closed door system wouldn't work, it would be absurd. The solution imo would be to screen an immigrants motivation and potential contribution. EU migrant workers are totally fine, because they come here solely to work and contribute and it's beneficial to our economy to allow them to do so. From a more international view a person should be judged on what they can contribute, allowing them to immigrate over here for skilled labour, relationships or education. A lot of immigrants come here though through unfortunate circumstances like poverty, but it is necessary to just be tough and say "We sympathise with you, but we can't help you all" and tell them they can't come here. That's just my view though, a more stringent screening process based on what they can offer us as opposed to what we can offer them. The good thing about this system is that race is not a factor and so it is fair and balanced. |

im not disagreeing entirely, im simply asking what you think we do with people who dont meet our "criteria"
