I really wouldn't call it 'hax' as much as download dx10 for XP and install it.
Microsoft had plans to take advantage of certain abilities Vista had for dx10, but didn't end up doing it. Therefore there was no reason for dx10 not to officially support XP. I have it installed on my WinXP machine.
