I don't think Blu-Ray is going anywhere either. I think the point of this thread is that it probably will not see the success that DVD has.
IMHO Blu-Ray will probably be very successful, however it will probably be the last format for physical media. This is actually a good thing for Blu-Ray, that means that Blu-Ray will be around for longer than it probably would have. |
as long as the cloud computing need's a way to store data physical media is not going away...many will say, flash storage, solid state
which can be used but optical disc's are cheaper per/ GB. AND WILL REMAIN SO
like i stated there is a reason why Digital Downloads are great for Music, but not so much for movies.
the idea is Music is great for on the go. many people would agree with that
the Idea is Movies is great for on the go. many people would disagree mainly due to most of the time on the go is taken up by work, or school, shopping etc. thing's that music is geared for, but movies not so much.
the reason why digital downloads for music is quite big is because its handy and CD player's are bulky
if you want movies , you can use laptop's but many people prefer TV's which bring's it back to HOME viewing
which the majority of market is physical media because since the CREATION OF THE CD the optical disc in that format is trusted, people know it works. many consumer's do not even know you can turn a laptop into a TV with a USB TV turner. many consumer's view digital downloads as Valueless. that's the main problem
they view digital downloads hold no after market value.
