That's odd since UPS and Fed Ex makes me sign for everything they deliver without fail.
I don't mind this living in the downtown area of the city, but when I was in the burbs where everyone knows their neighbors (zero chance of mail theft), it was kind of annoying at times.
At times it almost feels as though they have a sixth sense for trying to deliver a package during the small window of time in which I'm not available. Last Friday I was gone for a class for less than four hours and the delivery truck had stopped by about 20 minutes before I returned and left a notice on my door.
I ended up calling UPS and arranging to pick up my package that evening at the depot.
If you have dodgy neighbors who steal your mail, you should definitely arrange for UPS to hold all your deliveries at the depot so you can pick them up in person if you aren't around to receive them in person.
At the very least, arrange to have them require your signature to confirm delivery, which as far as I know, they should be doing anyway.
I have a laptop incoming later this week, and if I can't be there during the scheduled delivery time, I will be calling in ahead to arrange pick up in person!
