"I have a full respect for Kutaragi. He is the one who provided a new direction in gaming with PS1. I think everyone should keep in mind that he has a great contribution in vg entertaiment. If not him we would moulder in Mario's mushrooms world."

the real contribution is of the 3rd party developers, GTA, Resident evil, tekken, final fantasy, devil may cry, metal gear, kof,ace combat, silent hill, kingdom hearts, tomb raider, dragon quest, etc, all are a 3rd properties.

the only AAA games developer by sony are Gran turismo and god of war

i think the playstation only have lucky, if the playstation dont exist, all  those games go to the console of the moment, that is all.

this is only my opinion, im not fanboy, i like every game of the market.

i think that the good thing about the ps1 is that avoided the nintendo monopoly, this was good, for that i think the wii good moment in the world and the 360 US moment are a good thing for the videogames, i dont want a monopoly of sony, nintendo , microsoft, nokia, samsung , toyota, hp or any company that want join to this industry.

The reason those 3rd parties were able to create the games they created was because Sony created a machine most suitable to their endeavors. Final Fantasy is the best example. The main reason it was created on the PS1 was because Kutaragi had the vision to use a CD-Drive with significant 3D capabilities. The combination of those two things allowed Square to pull of their vision for FF7. Sony wasn't lucky, they just created a better cheaper product.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.
