Regarding the OP, it's hard to pick one, but Easy Rider, Dr. Strangelove, Ghostbusters, Annie Hall and Pulp Fiction would round out a top 5. That was the whole film, with the introductory recap of DAICON III (albeit faster paced and with improved animation), and the making-of short during the credits.
And say what want you want of the animation techniques (even though right after this the guy who did the explosion sequence was hired to animate the climactic explosions of Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind by Miyazaki). It was made by some hobbyists at home, to be shown once at a sci fi convention in Osaka, but accidentally went on to revolutionize independent animation. They did live-action Godzilla and Ultraman spoofs after that, and then went on to make Evangelion and get rich and rule the world of otaku. And the message in the film is all a metaphor about creating world peace through nerdy sci-fi pop culture. I've read countless pages from countless essays about the importance of this film, so I'm not the only crazy one.
TL;DR version: I took a class on anime in college and it made me stupid. I love DAICON IV and I've watched it at least 40 times.
