You do realise Reach isn't a spinoff, right? It's a brand new main game. It is the biggest story of the main game story to be brought to the series. The Fall Of Reach is the beginning. It's how Masterchief ends up the only spartan left. It will be a fully fleshed new engined game. It's effectively Halo 4.

I wasn't arguing any sales. I was rectifying the fact he/she believed Reach was a spin off like ODST. :)
