This was in reference to the Square Enix earnings reports released a couple months ago (when they were showing off the amount all their major franchises make). So basically, if you take Wadas statement as a default fact, Square Enix isn't even going to start 'thinking' about translating Dragon Quest IX until sometime after next march (the beginning of the next fiscal year).

I wouldn't take wada's word for fact at all. He also said Dragon Quest IX and Final Fantasy XIII weren't going to release the same fiscal year.

Well, I don't want to, I really don't. But when it comes to Dragon Quest, Square Enix really doesn't care much about the series outside of Japan anyway. So even if Wada had no say in it, it would probably take 6-9 months for them to bring it out in America anyway. What he's saying is just that he doesn't think they're going to even start translating it until after the next year begins.

Which could change as thier priorities do. That doesn't mean that they *will* start translating it in January or March, but that he expects to. Actually "year" could actually mean the regular annual year and he could be talking about January.
