I don't understand how that really effects someone, if you don't wanna spend the $40 then don't.

That effects the people who make the game though and the console in the long run.

That's a different argument, sure pirating is going to have an effect on the developer, publisher, and console in question. but it shouldn't really effect some other gamer.
