TGS visitors seem very smart - why wait in a line with 6-8 people when I can wait in a line with 60-80 to play the exact same game?

It's Consumber Behavior at work.

For example. When Mcdonalds first moved to Russia they went all out and build one of the biggest Mcdonalds they could, with 12 registers so that everyone could get Mcdonalds quick.

No one came. They were shocked.. their food tested well, and it sells everywhere. They hired a consumer psychologist to see why Mcdonalds hamburgers in Russia wern't selling well.

What they found out was shocking, well to Americans. As it turns out... almost nobody went to the Mcdonalds because the lines were always small... and if anything were really good their would be lines for it.

This mentality was built up, because back when Russia was the USSR you had lines for everything, many times you couldn't tell how good or important what you were in line for was unless you checked the size of the line.

So, the Mcdonalds people closed down 10 of the 12 registers... and suddenly buisness started booming.

As for Japan though... it might just be that they want to see how it plays with the PS3 controller? Really I just wanted an excuse to tell that story. I love that story.

It also applies to America, just think about amusement park rides instead of food.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
