First of all, he was commenting on the NPD results. He's right, the PS3 is the only console to see an increase. What's wrong with him stating a fact? it doesn't matter why, he was there to talk about the NPD results. Should he talk about chinese food? I don't see why this is funny.
Also, critical reviews have a meaning. Whether you like it or not. They do judge the general quality of a game. a game that is 96 is more than likely a better game than a game that is 90.
Better game is subjective, one or the other might be a better experience, but the quality of the title itself may be less.
75 reviews from 75 different critical people whos jobs are to evaluate video games. I'd say, why its not a perfect conclusion ( Because uncharted 2 is a solid 10, anything less is unreasonable) It's a good example of how good a game is.
Uncharted 2's quality speaks for itself. Its so far the game of the generation and it doesn't need reviews to say that.
