R4 isn't replacement for hardware but rather a tool for piracy.
but HDD 2.5 are.
and third party memory sticks work on sony cybershots cameras, and sony ericsson phone have microSD cars also, you are not forced to buy sony memory sticks.
there is sandisk and "insert here your favorite chinese brand", samsung etc etc.
