That is backwards, you are meant to add people as a friend AFTER you get to know them.  How was it abused?  You could mute people so what was the issue...

 

Anyway, joke of a interactive social network without it.

u get to know them by chatting.

and some people went into groups calling everyone idiots.

it was turned into a 3d world as classy as xbox live.
