Make sure your Jobs are at least level 5, while your main Job being lvl 15. If you have trouble leveling up, kill the first monster you come across at the entrance to the Boss part of the mines. It is a golem, and it should give you about half of your experience each kill until you get around level 13 where it starts to dwindle. If you tell me your main Job, I can help you a little more.

Alright then I recommend uping your avoid (either through armor, the Thieves Skill- Avoid, or another solution) and speed up. He is really fast, and he hits hard. You have to be the same. Also make sure you bring a partner who is a Mage or a Priest. That is if you did enough side quests to unlock them. Keep the boss' focus on you so they can successfully use whatever attack they use.
