There seems to be three schools of thought here.
One is that the game has been in development for far too long and needs to be released.
One is that GT5 is going to be immaculate and cure Herpes and so they can take as much time as they need.
And some feel like regardless of whether or not the game is going to be great, they should release it because its poor customer service to keep players waiting this long.
Are you sure we aren't talking about a Blizzard game here? Ziiiiing
