Easily Kojima. SotC is vasly over-rated. What we have there is a pretty stripped down game with very little variety which survives as a classic under the mantra "games are art" and "Atmosphere is greater than narrative." If that game wasn't supported by some of the best graphics and most original artstyle on the PS2...say it were on the DS, it would be a mediocre title and wouldn't be remembered by most people. The game is a paper champion. It has no real substance. It's not the type of game you want to play back through for the addictive gameplay.

Of course, it doesn't hurt the developers notability and the post launch hype of the game, that the developer stayed PS exclusive, and thus automatically has a huge horde of followers no matter how good or bad his work may actually be.

Kojima on the other hand, is an actual great developer who has been making not only good games, but even one revolutionary game(MGS). While he has slipped up in the past, and no he's not perfect, he is really really good, and he doesn't need to be seen in a mysterious "games are art" mystique to justify it.

I do give the artstyle dept for SotC props, though. Interesting stuff. Though, gameplay is where it counts, and making an obviously Zelda inspired knockoff without the dungeons, monsters, or story didn't quite enthrall me as I once thought it might, no matter how purty is turned out. Maybe I just don't understand atmosphere or implied themes in videogames. That said, it does pay homage to Zelda. I give it an 8/10.

I honestly don't think that's very accurate, but to each his own...

That is so freakin insulting I don't even know what to say, I may have jokingly made a reference to Kojima being the greatest mind in gaming. Just so I could see the reaction out of certain people. But Ueda is a freaking Mastermind when it comes to his video games. I haven't played ICO but Shadow was such a unique experience that I wait on bated breath for The Last Guardian. EVERY and I mean Every PS Fan here have never shot down, disrespected or called traitor on Kojima in any way because he's making a FUCKIN Spin-off Multiplat. I hate to see 360 fans and Wii fans saying that just because SOME NOT EVEN ALL PS Fans don't consider Kojima the God among Men isn't because we are all butthurt that a SPIN-OFF will be multiplat. Anyone remember MGS2: Substance? Rising wont even sell have as much on the 360 to what the PS3 version will sell. Hell we don't even know if there will be other MGS games or if they will even be Multiplat. For all we know the 360 version could flop and the next console MGS might be exclusive.

God, stop saying because someone disagrees with you that they're automatically a fanboy.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
