Not wii games. SMG is not bad though. Some games like Call of Duty WAW are atrocious on HD TVs.

It's pretty much like a digital photo. The bigger (when you zoom in) you make it the shabbier it looks.

The more pixels in the photo the more quality is retained when enlarging.

HD console can push more "pixels", hence retaining great quality on larger screens.

 

You're forgetting one important thing, viewing distance. If you have a tv that is twice as big (and the same resolution), then sit 1.41 times as far away it will look exactly the same
