Why does anyone need to smoke weed? What's wrong with shopping in the Mall or something? And if you have to smoke weed, why in his Car? Why not the skate park or somewhere similar?

because weed can be a good ice breaker. it's less intense than alcohol and it helps the awkwardness disappear if there ever was some.
